My dog is vomiting white foam?

Posted by : admin

Hello I have a 8 month schnauzer and I noticed that she has a upset stomach for about a week now and she is vomiting white foam. She still eats but has less energy. In the morning she seems alot better but in the afternoon she starts to throw up. I want to take her to vet tomorrow, but has anyone gone through this with your dog? Should I be worried?

I would be concerned due to the lack of energy and the fact that it’s been going for a week. I’m glad you are taking her to the vet tomorrow. Meanwhile, give her lots of liquids. -!-

my dog has a very sensitive stomach and occasionally throws up but not on a daily basis. I can tell you that most likely the white foam is stomach acid or bile…it means her stomach is already empty when she is throwing up and all she is able to get out is acid. Def a trip to the vet time. Good luck

I think she needs to go to the vet tomorrow. She could have an upset tummy but still, if this keeps going on I would think she could have swallowed something or eaten something poisonous.

White foam is typically a sign of a virus or infection. Vomiting food is usually a matter of overeating, exercising after eating, or eating something disagreeable. Yellow bile indicates an empty stomach. My dog picked up something like this at a dog park recently, he vomited white foam and water for several days. The vet administered a shot that was supposed to stop the vomiting and diarrhea and told me to give him 1/4 of a Pepcid AC tablet to keep his stomach calm. He had a few more episodes, but eventually the medicine calmed him down. I would suggest you try giving your dog the Pepcid twice a day, morning and night, and feed her very small meals of boiled chicken breast and plain white rice 4-6 times per day (just a few spoonfuls at a time). Keeping the medicine and food in her stomach should help calm down the vomiting.

You noticed she was sick a week ago, and didn’t do anything about it? She needs to go to the vet’s.

well idk if its the same as my dog but he does to because its hot now cuz its summer so he takes too big of gulps of water then has to throw it up and its white foam.
    Hope it helps.
    Good Luck!

probably food related. fix some PLAIN white rice that will settle her stomach. if need be, you can put small amount of hamburger, or chicken in the rice, but plain rice will for sure help. instant rice is fine too.

I wouldn’t be worried but I’m glad that you’re taking her to the vets. Does she eat grass? Mine sometimes gets white foamy barf after he eats grass which is daily. He loves grass. It’s like salad for him. It might be a virus or something. It might be the food you are feeding her too because she’s ok in the morning. Make sure you are feeding her something that has no corn or gleuten or ANY kind of by products in it. Don’t give her anything that you can buy in a grocery store or Walmart. Some good foods are Canidae(my fave and still cheap), Wellness, Solid Gold, Orijen, Merrick, Eagle Pack Holisitic, Blue Buffalo and there are others that you can buy in feed stores. No Petsmart stuff either. If your vet tries to get you to buy Science Diet or Iams, tell them NO THANKS too as they have all kinds of JUNK in them too and they cost a fortune. Go buy one of the above foods. As long as your dog is up to date on shots and otherwise healthy, I think she’ll be ok. She’s young and they bounce back from infections and viruses fast. Good luck and hope she’s back to normal soon.

I would take her to the vet as soon as you can. Continue giving her fluids and hopefully the fluid stays down so she wont be dehydrated. The vet can probably run some lab/blood test and be able to diagnose your pet’s problem and advise you the remedy. Hope your pet feels better soon. I know the feeling of seeing your pet sick.

How’s her faeces(soft, hard, semi-hard or liquid form)? Normally my dogs faeces is semi-hard, when their stomach is not feeling well (vomit or diarrhoea) their faeces will be very soft to liquid type. Normally I will stop their daily meal. Give them lots of water with a little salt in it. Follow on give them some garlic to detox. Monitor their faeces again the next day. If vomiting or diarrhoea still appear then I will bring them to Vet.

Does your dog have breakfast in the morning? What about afternoon? If you only give her food in the morning and afternoon the vomiting start again STOP your food immediate. Your food might be contaminated.
Bring the food and your dog to a Vet ASAP.
