My dog has been vomiting and has had diarrhea for the past 3 days. Its gross but seems like the diarrhea has mucus in it. What should I do?

At 3 days, it’s time to ditch the home remedies and get to a vet, especially if the dog is small or is a puppy (details that are always helpful).

He’s losing fluid at both ends and is at risk of being dehydrated. The underlying cause is probably not serious, but it will get serious quickly if he becomes very dehyrdated. The vet will probably give him antibiotics or an anti-inflammatory and some hydration.

Without this, you’re risking his life.

apparently thinking of taking the dog to the vet the FIRST day was too easy to think of
taking the dog to the vet the second day was STILL too easy to concieve of
so clearly you haven’t grasped the concept of getting the dog to the EMERGENCY VET TODAY as both vomiting and sh*tting can and DOES cause something deadly called DEHYDRATION!

Call any local veterinarian office. They’ll probably be closed but they will give you the name of an animal hospital that’s open.

Your dog needs to go to the emergency room, today! She probably swallowed something that she can’t digest. This is called a bowel obstruction and it can KILL your dog in a short amount of time.

    ER pronto

Gee…. that’s a tough one. 3 days you say? Maybe you can rent a dog movie for the two of you to watch, bake his favorite cookies, brush each others hair…… or maybe you should TAKE HIM TO THE VET?

If the dog is young it could be parvo. A very deadly disease. If not caught soon enough it will kill your pup. If it an older dog it could have been something he got hold of but to make sure your dog is safe you need to take him/her to the Vet. There aren’t any Vets on this site so there is nothing we can advise you on.

So many people come on here asking serious questions that we cannot answer. It is something you have to get checked by a Vet.

If it is Parvo monday may be too late & you could loose your dog over the weekend if it is Parvo. There should be an emergency Vet somewhere in your area. I would take him/her there.

Your dog needs to be seen by a vet. A vet will make sure your dog is not dehydrated from the vomiting/diarrhea and will often be able to prescribe medications to settle his stomach. Try to bring a fresh stool sample when you go; the vet will want to check it for parasites and certain other causes of diarrhea.

If you call your regular veterinarian, they should have an answering service or message that will tell you where they recommend after-hours care. Otherwise, look in your phone book to try and find an emergency veterinary clinic in your area. Most major metropolitan areas will have at least one.

you should take it to the vet…some plants cause that and it could lead to death and if it ate grapes…garlic and other foods can kill them too.my grandmas dog had diarrhea for a long time but is fine but with vomiting i would not trust it..try to get it to a vet it could be sick but i could be wrong…but better safe than sorry ( if it acts weak or sick then i would take it because we had a dog get sick and die when i was young but if she seems ok u could wait a little while longer

try looking that up on dogpile.com (what causes vomiting and diarrhea in dogs)or(what causes dogs to have mucus in there feces) other may have had the same problem) oh and sorry about the spelling

    hi,

Diarrhea is the passing of loose or liquid stool, more often than normal. The cause could be related to problems with your dog’s small intestine, large intestine, or other organs.
    here’s a treatment:

    hope this helps.
