How much would it cost to take a lost dog to the vet to make sure it doesn’t have a chip?
March 6th, 2010 | by admin |I recently found a black labrador retriever mixed with something else but I am not sure. I was wondering what would it cost to take this dog to the vet to make sure that it doesn’t have a chip inside of it. I really don’t want the humane society to put it to sleep. It is such a sweet heart.
it should be nothing – they want to help also & it doesn’t cost to just scan the dog.

In my experience, it’s free.

Most veterinary clinics will check for a chip for free.

I would think they would do that for you for free.

Everytime I have found a stray the vets have scanned it for free, just call local vets and ask them first and to make sure that they would have time to do the scan.

free. Humane society will not put it to sleep automatically. Take it there and tell them that if they can not adopt it out or it does not pass the temperament test then you would like it back (here it cost $20 to do that) that way if the owners are looking they will have a better chance finding it at a shelter.

Call all your local vets, it should be free unless the vet is a money hungry jerk.

I’ve never been charged just to have a chip checked.
