Don’t you think you should have thought of this BEFORE you used the treatment on him??

Dogs/cats are entirely different animals than horses, and I would be very, very cautious if not completely averted to using products on each species that wasn’t originally formulated for that species.

Take the treatment with you to the vet, and ask him if it would be safe to use on your horse. First though, you need to figure out if fleas are his actual problem or not. It could very well be rain rot, sweet itch, or many other things, which wouldn’t be solved by a flea removal treatment.

I’m not trying to be rude, but would you really entrust the health and safety of your horse to random people on the internet? Most of the answers you will get here, especially regarding medical treatment, will be mildly educated guesses at best. Please, wash that stuff off of your horse and call the vet. A simple phone call is all it takes and you’ll know you have the right answer. Just describe the bugs to the vet, ask for the best recommended treatment, and tell them what kind of cat/dog treatment you used on the horse to find out whether or not it is toxic. Better safe to spend a few minutes on the phone with a professional than to chance the life of your horse on yahoo answers.

Its better to stick to horse flea treatment (should be available at pet shop/ vets or if not on line). I know that most dog flea treatments can’t be used on cats (as they cause blood toxicity) so i’d be careful with horses

Wash it off immediately! Cat and dog flea treatments are for cats and dogs only. There may be some chemicals in there that horses can not tolerate.

They make flea and tick treatments for horses! I included a link to the cheapest that I could find.

It’s all natural, so you don’t have to worry about harsh chemicals harming your horse. It takes care of fleas, fly’s and ticks. Its a huge bottle and you only need a small amount so 1 bottle should last you over a year, most likely longer. It’s a great investment for your horses well being.
