Is it true that illness could trigger dog fight?

February 9th, 2010 | by admin |

I posted another question about the sudden fighting between 2 dogs at my house and have seen several responses indicating that maybe my older dog could be ill. Is this a true possiblility? My older dog is actually spending the day at the vet today to ensure that there isnt an ugly fight while I am working all day today since there was a pretty bad fight this morning. And there are a total of 4 dogs in my house and the younger one only attacks this one in particular, I also foster dogs for our local dog pound so they dont have to be euthanized for space purposes and my dog never even attacks them, and they are outsiders. Just seems weird.

Illness often change behavior patterns. You never know it could be an ear infection and it bothers the old boy when the younger one is on that side of him. In turn he snaps at him.

Thank you for fostering.!!!

That could be. Yes. If your dog is ill, she may not be wanting to be near others. You can put her in another room to keep her separate from the others for a while.

Yes it is very possible and it could also be a dominance issue or the simple thing these two dogs just do not like each other. Just like epole some dogs just do not get along. My one dog gets along with every dog but my friends. But to rule out everyhting else have the vet check your dog, alot of illnesses can cause aggression problems.
