do dog allergies get worse with exposure?

Posted by : admin

My neighbor just brought home a little boxer puppy. Within a few hours he had an allergic reaction – slight swelling, itching, tight throat, some flare/wheal on his arms. He actually has a border collie as well that he has no problem with. Will he be able to keep the dog or does it get worse? We have two american bulldogs and he sometimes gets allergies when hanging out with them.

When you are exposed to what sets off your allergies, your body produces antibodies. After repeated exposures, your body is going to be able to create less of an allergic reaction. Depending on how fast your body creates antibodies, it could take months to years. Invest in some hypo-allergenic shampoo and some claritin.
