If either of the dead animals had rabies, they could transmit it to your dog. The carcases need to be tested if you suspect they might have been rabid.

I have two dogs, a 4 year old pit and a 9 year old (senior) Old English Bulldog. Two nights ago I gave them a bath with the Hertz flea and tick shampoo as I noticed they were both getting fleas. I have never given this to them before as they’re both inside dogs and have never had a flea problem before. My pit was vomiting here and there, but for the last two days my bulldog cannot hold his bowel movements. He has had numerous piles of diarrhea all over the house yesterday. I didn’t think too much of it as sometimes if he has some human food this will happen (he has a sensitive stomach). I went to work for a couple hours today and had kept him in his kennel in case he had problems today and I came home to him covered in diarrhea! The only thing that has been different from his normal day to day was the flea bath. Is it possible that this could have made my dogs ill? My pit seems fine today. Is there something I could feed him to help him out? I’m trying to avoid a visit to the vet if I don’t have to as the vet really stresses out my bulldog (he’s pretty old for a bulldog) but I’m thinking it might be inevitable. Was wondering if anyone else had the same problems and what they might recommend. Thanks!
Edit: They have had their parvo shots and are up to date on all vaccines so they are good there.

From what you’re saying, I think its definitely the shampoo.

I suggest you stop using it, and see if the problem stops or continues

Small blisterlilke things on her stomach and rear. She doesn’t have ringworm according to the vet. A neighbor told me that she might have been poisoned. Does anyone know anything about this? Vet. said it appears to be something on the inside trying to work itself to the outside. Am giving antibiotics and using salve prescribed by the vet. It’s very painful for her because the places are like open blisters. Help please.

Since you already had your dog at the vet and she has given you antibiotics and salve, continue to use that for a few days and see if things are getting better. If not, take the dog back. See if you get any satisfaction of a diagnosis the second time. Also….keep in mind that sometimes second opinions are the way to go. It’s possible the second vet might know or see something that they recognize that the first vet didn’t. Give it another day or two, and call your vet. But….don’t rule out the option of taking it somewhere else. (I just lost a dog to bladder cancer…..the first vet diagnosed it…..the second one confirmed it. But at least I felt I gave my dog a chance. Unfortunately, we had to put her down 3 weeks ago…..she could no longer pee). Best of luck…..and keep looking till someone gives you a REAL diagnosis.

Yesterday my four year old border collie was taken to an emergency vet, he is generally in very good health and is very very active, he went to bed perfectly well but in the morning could not walk! he looked like he was in a lot of pain on his back end ..we rushed him to an emergency vet who also was none the wiser about his problem! She says his symptoms don’t seem to match a gut problem as he has no Temperature or vomiting, she lifted and poked around his back end and he has no immediate pain…. HOW EVER… he still could not walk or when he DID he was very very tucked up like we would if we had stomach ache!!
She has given him an anti-inflamatory which seems to have helped, today he is up and about .. not 100% but much much better….

Im worried as to what caused this? would this sound like a kidney problem? Now I think about it, he often cocks his leg for ages but no wee comes out! OR could it be a back problem? a month or so a go his back foot swelled right up and he couldn’t walk on it! we do live on a farm so we just put it down to treading on some thing…..

either way its great that he seems on the mend, but he is a real up and comer for dog agility and im worried that what ever this is, is going to stop him or worse!
Thanks for the answers!, No the vet didnt take any blood or ex-rays which is really what I wanted to have done (especially after paying the EMERGENCY fee of a sunday appointment lol)

To answer the question below, about the "gut" problem, we thought may be he could have eaten some poisen, or maybe have some thing stuck that he cant pass? but today he seems pretty much fine! either way I think I would like to have more tests as SOME thing was VERY wrong yesterday so bad that we had to CARRY him and he is a BIG collie haha! and im worried it could get worse if not treated! Luckily we have insurance so fingers crossed all the above will be covered!

and yes he is entire! and yes I think she did check every thing there!

Actually it sounds like a back problem. Did your vet take any x rays of your dogs back? Walking hunched up like that can be an indication that his back is in spasm possibly from a disc problem. If he is getting better with anti-inflamatory meds and rest it could have been his back. Rest and meds is the usual treatment for back injury’s that are not to severe. If it happens again ask your vet to x ray his back.

your dog has epilepsy.the medication is phenobarbital is good:you need to call the veterinarian and ask him to increase the dosage.
sometimes when the dog has lots of seizures,it is possible that there is a brain tumour?Don’t wait long, too many seizures can kill the dog.
It happened to my friends dog.
